Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 30, 2026

Gen X Life Hub (genxlifehub.org) is a free senior care resource for adult children caring for aging parents in Chicago's Northwest Suburbs. This page explains what information the site collects, what we do with it, and what choices you have. We wrote it in plain language on purpose.

The short version

  • You can read every guide without giving us your name or email.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising except through the ad cookies described below, which you can turn off.
  • The site shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to do that.
  • We do not ask for Social Security numbers, bank details, Medicare numbers or medical records. Please do not send them to us.
  • The site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
  • You can contact us at genxlifehub@gmail.com about anything on this page.

Who runs this site

Gen X Life Hub is operated from Illinois, USA. For privacy questions, email genxlifehub@gmail.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact messages. If you use the contact page or email us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you write in the message.
  • Email signups and downloads. If we offer a newsletter or a downloadable checklist and you sign up, we collect your email address and the name you enter.
  • Account or sign-in details. If you create an account or sign in, we store the email address and login details you use.

Keep health details about you or your parent out of messages where you can. If you do include them, we use them only to answer you.

Information collected automatically

When you visit, our servers and our analytics and ad partners may record:

  • Your IP address and approximate location (city or region level)
  • Browser type, device type and operating system
  • Pages you view, how long you stay, and the page or ad that sent you here
  • Cookie and device identifiers

How we use information

  • To answer your messages and send what you asked for
  • To see which guides help people so we can improve them and write new ones
  • To show ads that pay for keeping the site free
  • To keep the site secure and catch spam, fraud and invalid ad clicks
  • To follow the law

Cookies, advertising and analytics

Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and other companies in its ad network are third-party vendors. They use cookies, web beacons and similar technology to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites, and to measure and limit how often you see an ad.

You can change your ad choices at any time with the Google opt-out links above, or by clearing this site's cookies in your browser.

Analytics

We use privacy-conscious analytics tools to count visits and see which pages people read. These tools may use cookies or similar identifiers. We use the results in aggregate, not to identify you.

Social media and ads we run elsewhere

We post on Facebook and LinkedIn and may run ads there. If you reach this site from one of those ads, the social network may set its own cookie or use a tracking pixel to measure whether the ad worked. That data is handled under the social network's own privacy policy.

Your browser controls

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies will not stop you from reading the guides. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of sale or sharing of your information where the law requires it. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common standard for it, so we do not respond to it separately.

Affiliate links and sponsored content

Some pages may include affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When a page has affiliate links, it says so near the top. Affiliate links do not change what we recommend. Our Editorial Policy explains how we decide what goes on the site.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers that help us run the site, such as our website host (Hostinger), email provider and analytics tools. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • Advertising partners such as Google, through the cookies described above.
  • Authorities or other parties when the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of our visitors, the site or others.
  • A buyer or successor, if the site is ever sold or transferred. We would tell you first if the new owner planned to use your information differently.

We do not pass your contact requests to home care agencies, lawyers, realtors or other providers unless you ask us to.

Your privacy rights

Illinois does not have a general consumer privacy law yet, but we give every visitor in the United States the same choices. Some states, including California, give their residents these rights by law, and we honor them for everyone:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how we use it
  • Get a copy of your information
  • Correct information that is wrong
  • Delete your information
  • Opt out of the sale of your information, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and targeted advertising
  • Not be treated differently for using these rights
  • Appeal if we deny your request (contact us and put "Appeal" in the subject line)

Sale and sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies from Google may count as "sharing" for targeted advertising under some state laws. To opt out, use the Google and industry opt-out links in the advertising section, send a Global Privacy Control signal, or email us. We do not knowingly sell or share the information of anyone under 16.

Sensitive information. We do not ask for sensitive personal information such as health records, government ID numbers or financial account numbers, and we do not use it to profile you.

California "Shine the Light." California residents may ask once a year which categories of personal information we shared with third parties for their direct marketing. We do not share it for that purpose.

To make a request, email genxlifehub@gmail.com. We may need to confirm your identity by matching details you give us to what we have. You can have an authorized agent make a request for you. We respond within 45 days, and we tell you if we need more time.

Children's privacy

This site is written for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

How long we keep information, and how we protect it

  • Messages and emails: up to 24 months after our last exchange, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Email list: until you unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Analytics and ad cookies: they expire on the schedule each provider sets, typically from a few weeks to about two years.

We use encrypted (HTTPS) connections, limit who can see the information we hold, and use reputable providers. No website or email is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive personal or financial details to us.

Our guides link to government agencies, nonprofits and businesses. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.

Changes to this policy

We update this page from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a big change to how we use your information, we will put a notice on the home page.
